Color Details

The Color Detail page is displayed when you add a color from the Chooser or select a color from Favorites. This page displays the RGB and HSV values associated with the color. All values are in the range 0-1, except Hue which is is in the range 0-360 degrees.

The color name representing the closest match to the color is also displayed. You can add a description to this color to help you associate this color with it's use. This description is displayed in color lists and is part of searches.

A color wheel and brightness slider is also displayed.

By pressing the Edit button, you can change any of the RGB/HSV values, touch the color wheel or change the brightness slider to define a new color or just see how a given color might look when shifted in hue or brightness.

Click the Tags button to view and edit what tags are associated with the color. When the tags list is displayed, a checkmark is shown next to the tags associated with the color. If you want to add or remove tags, click the Edit button and touch tags to toggle whether they are associated with the color or not. Note: if you want to add more tags, you can do so clicking the Edit button on the top level Favorites page.

Click the Harmonies button to see what colors can be paired harmoniously with the current color. The Harmonies page selects colors based on a set of subjective color harmony rules that are used by artists and designers. This can be useful in what colors go together when selecting clothes, for example.

Click the Closest button to see what colors are closest to the current color. The distance between two colors is displayed based on hue and brightness, hue only or brightness only. This can be useful in when trying to read various color-coded test strips (e.g. Ph strips).

Note that color identification and comparison work best in bright light, preferably daylight.
